The antibodies to Coronavirus usually form 5-14 days after the first flu symptoms. Depending on the severity of the symptoms, it should therefore take 2-3 weeks from the time the symptoms first appeared until the blood sample is taken. The most reliable result is obtained by taking the test 3 weeks after the symptoms were at their worst.

The test is easily taken at home. A few drops of blood collect after you make a small sting in your finger. You can do this on your own, anytime, anywhere. You register your blood sample via our website with BankID and then return the sample to the laboratory by mail in store.
In the laboratory, the IgG and IgM antibodies are tested for the presence of Coronavirus in your blood.
In the case of very mild flu symptoms, it can take up to three weeks before antibodies can be detected, and in a few cases they are not detectable with current technology.
The test used by Tigeni has no cross-reactivity with other forms of Coronavirus, of which there are several or with other types of viruses. This means that your result is not affected by the presence of other infections.
The test has the following sensitivity and specificity to determine a previous COVID-19 infection with coronavirus based on the IgG test:
IgG sensitivity: 64-100%. The sensitivity, or the chance that a reviewed infection is detected with the test, depends on the time the blood sample is taken after the first day of illness.
If you test too early, there is a chance that the test is false negative. This means that even if you have had Coronavirus, the test will not show this. This is usually because the body has not managed to produce enough antibodies that can be detected. You get the best result of up to 100% detection 3 weeks after the symptoms were at their worst.
IgG specificity: 98-100%. The specificity defines whether the test will yield a positive result when pathogens or antibodies than those produced after a Coronavirus infection are detected. Thus the chance that this test will return a false positive is very low and is a reliable indicator of previous COVID-19 infection.
Within a few working days you will receive a text message with the result. If the test is positive, one of our doctors will evaluate the analysis and get in touch. The test includes a medical assessment by a general practitioner.
